I've noticed that some of the leaves are going pale and dropping off. When we have all that precipitation I had fungi growing contained by the soil and was wondering if that have anything to do with it. I enjoy removed the top layer of soil and replaced it near new potting mix but i don't know if this will comfort.I hope someone can help as I don't want to lose it
Answers: michelia figo is better specified as port wine magnolia because of the flower scent.how big is your plant?repotting isnt necessary.a dose of fungicide mixed at the correct ratio will do .how do you know it be a fungus?yellowing of the leaves and falling off can be a inborn process if it is the older leaves.save it sounds like an iron difficiency.are the babyish leaves turning yellow?.if the leaves vein are turning yellow it could be a magnesium difficiency.does your potting mix smell sour.if so it may not be as free draining as its suppose to be.try the simple things first previously going to the extreme of repotting.
The Michelia Figo (aka Banana Shrub) requires only an "average" amount of wet and prefers and equal amount of sun and shade, (they come from China). Is it planted in a pot or within the ground? If it's in a pot after try to move it INDOORS or away from rainfall. You could also cover the ground around it when you think it's something like to rain. It really sounds close to it's getting TOO MUCH water. Hold rotten watering it for at least a week or two. It may or may NOT come fund to life. Yellow and dropping leaves are usually a virtuous indicator that these types of plants are getting too much water. Good Luck
