Answers: Your Iris plants will be OK.
After the ground has frozen, you can mulch the root nouns with pine needles or weed-free straw, but don't cover the rhizomes. They stipulation the sun to shine on them to keep them from rotting. Check your Irises during heat spells in the winter & cover up any roots that enjoy heaved out of the ground as a result of successive freezes and thaw.
Make sure you remove the mulch in the spring, surrounded by late March, to allow nouns & sunlight to dry the soil surface.
