I collected several acorns from a oak tree here surrounded by Texas and don't know how to gain them to root.? ...

Answers:    In early plunge (oct.) you should hand-pick acorns directly from the tree or use a pole to knock down loose ones, (place a tarp underneath the tree for easy pick-up) pick the ones that are turning green to brown, (dark green ones aren't geared up yet) remove the caps and rinse within kitchen sink or pail of lukewarm sea and 1/2 cup of bleach, (to prevent mold)
(throw away any acorns that float, have holes or cracks) lay acorns on a towel or weekly and air dry, put acorns surrounded by medium ziplock plenty and store in the frig for 1 month.
(check them once a week, remove any that are starting roots or rotten)
Plant within nov. in a weed-free sunny spot near well-draining soil after the first rains own soaked the ground, (in dry climates water the ground a few days a week back planting) dig holes 8 inches wide, re-fill with loose dirt and tamp firm, plant acorns on their sides or root side down if they started to germinate
2 inches gaping, 6 feet apart.
To protect plants and stop acorns from person dug up by squirrels/rodents, or seedlings anyone eaten by wildlife and insects, use 18 contained by. x 18 in. aluminum screening, roll into a 5 within. cylinder and staple on to a wooden stake, fold screening over the top to cover cylinder, drive the stake into the ground over acorn. Cover with mulch to lend a hand hold in moisture. Weed regularly.
Give 2-3 deep waterings surrounded by summer or during prolonged periods of hot dry weather.
Some acorns involve to go thru a cold spell since they will sprout..The ones squirrels don't find in the winter..usually grow the subsequent spring..You could put them in your freezer for a while..next plant them in a pot to take them started.
