However, I have existing plants that I really want to save. Other than doing the old fashioned digging, how do I take out the existing bermuda? I live in Dallas, so it is especially, very hot. The smallest amount of work, the better for me!
Thank you!
Answers: TO KILL THE GRASS TRY "ROUND-UP". REMOVE ANY PLANTS YOU WANT TO SAVE OR PROTECT THEM FROM ROUND-UP. IT DOES NOT WORK ON ROOTS BUT JUST THE BLADES & LEAVES WORKS FROM THE TOP DOWN .IT IS GREAT.
Take out the plants you want to keep. Lay reshape screen over the entire nouns you want to change and start from at hand. You will be building up the area so be sure you won't be creating drainage problems by installing a french drain to convey any run off to the street/ditch. The peak will kill the plants underneath it while allowing the plants on top to grow. I close to to start with sand, after add topsoil near the plants and then mulch over. The mulch will hold your soil contained by place and help hold moisture surrounded by your very hot and dry climate. You can bring contained by sand (over the screen), put flag stones on top and then plant something resembling a lemon thyme between the stones for the patio nouns. It will be cooler than just a pored court and provide a very nice smelling and interesting nouns. By the way, thyme is particularly resistant to foot traffic and releases its nice scent every time it is stepped on.
