Can someone recommend a book that will tell me how to take safekeeping of my landscaping plants?
Always a good starter book ... Landscaping for Dummies
(http://www.amazon.com/Landscaping-Dummie...

Another good one by Better Homes and Gardens ... Step-by-Step Landscaping
(http://www.amazon.com/Step-Step-Landscap...

And Home Depot's ... Landscaping 1-2-3 ... these come contained by regional editions by hardiness Zones.

Check your local library to see if they own any of them or they are all available on Amazon.com also.

Good luck 'n happy landscape!

you will want to achieve a book specifically written for the area where you live. I hold many good books but they are for my nouns as plants which work in one area will not work at adjectives in another and diseases which plague one area may be non-existent surrounded by another. You can call your local Cooperative extension office (or agrilife extension department as we call it now here where on earth I live) and they might be able to recommend good local regional books for you. So plentiful great books on this topic out there its hard to dogmatic it down to one or two. I have a lot of DIY books next to this topic and its among my favorite topic of all. You really can't go wrong on any book you can find at Borders or Barnes and Nobles sometimes they enjoy them on the clearance table.

My best recommendation is to go look at them and see which one covers the plants and topics you are interested contained by. Write down at least 3 or 4 books you really like after go to ebay and find it there for give or take a few half the amount. I've done this once or twice and I did save partly both times. If you can't find them there go to Amazon and see if you can bring back them used from sellers who sell them used on amazon. I enjoy acquired many great books for my personal DIY hint library and garden and landscaping books make up at most minuscule half of them!

Edit add: I of late did a search of a book I recently bought explicitly a great one to have. Its called the Complete Encyclopedia of Trees and Shrubs. It exactly as its said complete almost most trees and shrubs. Here is the search result on ebay I did for you:

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
