How to watchfulness for Marigolds? My little girl brought me home a small pot of flowers...
My little girl brought me home a small pot of flowers from Headstart today. My mom said she thought they were marigolds. Right presently, it is just green leaves. Anyway, I know nil about plants and would can`t stand to let them die. What do I stipulation to do take trouble of them? How much sunlight do they need? How much river? How do you know when to move them to a bigger pot? Like I said, I don't know anything about plants. Thanks surrounded by advance for any answers.
Answers: This is indeed a marigold for i grow them throught my herb and veggies as insect repellent..They are very undemanding to grow. and are happy mortal "root bound"... They only requirement 3 or 4 inches of soil for in my pictures below..they are growing within my herb bed in an aluminum rainfall gutter I bought and painted and attached to my deck hand guiderail...I recomend a 6 inch pot though.Do not fertilize with a dignified nitrogen fertilizer once they start forming buds..in certainty these in your picture are developed ample..I would add no nitrogen..They immediately need a fertilizer next to mostly phospherous and pottasiium in it once they start blooming..When they flower..the flower dries up after 2 or 3 days and more come out..You pinch the flowers sour that have already bloomed and are shriveling,,attached beneath the pinched flower are long pencil looking slivers..these are new seed under every flower..Break the pouch approachable and sett in a suacer somewhere out of direct sunlight and next let them dry..You can consequently replant these in other pots and enjoy marigolds all summer and trickle..save some of the kernel tops after frost comes and let them dry to replant contained by the spring again.I have so heaps that they self seed alot contained by my garden...They need GOOD DRAINAGE.. is the major thing..lone water them if outside every cou[ple days..inside you hose down less...They approaching full sun..but if on a porch or patio near some direct sun and some shaded will work just fine..Do not plant contained by that pre bagged so call potting soil...it gets so dense and thorny after watering for a few weeks the roots do not expand right..get a biddable bagged soil that have some peat moss and vermiculite in it so it stays loose..they are the easiest of flowers to grow..a moment ago loose soil..water very soon and then..and pinch put a bet on the flowers that close once bloomed..pinching the heads increases the flowe growth..You can use miracle grow "bloom booster" for these which is dignified in phospherous..do not use "adjectives purpose miracle grow" it is way too much nitrogen for them..Only fertilize slightly every 14 days or so..do not over fertilze them
stick your finger surrounded by the soil about 1/2 inch if the soil is dry hose the plant if it is moist leave it alone do not sea .give it plenty of sunshine and repot it when you grain it has grown big plenty to be repoted.do you have a garden you can put it within.if not you will hold to put it in another pot contained by about a month.
