Hi, I live in a house and we have a huge backyard. We have two very colossal woodpiles in one corner of the yard against the wall and since last year, there enjoy been field mice who live surrounded by it. I even saw one climb the fence from another yard and submerge into the pile!

Anyway, I don't want to use poison because I have a dog who stays outside 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He never comes inside. What are other alternatives besides the exterminator?

Ask around for a barn cat. Barn cats fashion excellent mousers. If they are not in your house, you should leave them alone for presently. Come winter they will be trying to come in, tho.

They are outside, what difference does it make? You could trap mice outside until the morning you die and you wouldn't put a dent in their population. Leave them be, or get rid of the wood piles.or grasp some cats.
