I'm in Florida and I enjoy some citrus trees that weren't maintained resourcefully with the previous owner...btw I'm assuming that because one of them is no longer attitude fruit, not to mention the yard is surrounded by rough shape. I want to make sure I'm providing flawless care for these trees (lime is one, I'm not %100 sure of the others, tangelo I don`t know??). What are some things I should be doing? I read I'm not supposed to mulch, is that true? What about river? Miracle Grow?
Answers: They need sunlight, apt draining soil, don't need mulching, I live within southeast Georgia and grow Lemons, Grapefruit, Limes, Navel Oranges, Tangerines, Kumquates, Calamondan, Pummelo, Satsuma Oranges, Verigated Lemon, Blood Oranges, Tangelo. Look for plants that have a nice straight graft on the stalk. I use slow release Citrus fertilizer and yes i've have good results next to Miracle Grow. The Miracle Grow seems to get the plant grow faster. Don't fertilize until frost danger is over. Depends on what zone you are surrounded by. Your County Agent can give you some obedient advice.
