My fiance and I recently bought a house. There is a really big Black Walnut Tree in the front patio. I'd say it is about 20 ft soaring before the branches start. We really do not want the tree, considering it is a very messy tree. We be told that we could sell it. We were told it is worth abundantly of money. Is this true, if so how much would someone pay for it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Probably not worth much, most nation in the tree removal business would have no use for it and although black walnut within the lumber yard is worth about $6.00 a ft. it's already cut into boards, so unless you know someone explicitly a woodworker and has the tools to cut it down and process it your better off of late to pay and have it removed. I'm a wood worker and I wouldn't consider it because of the labor, risk and drying time involved wouldn't be worth it. Not sure, but it's a bundle. VERY outstandingly prized by woodworkers. You may have to send it to a mill and hold boards made out of it to get it to market. I'm not sure. Probably if you flog it someone will take on that part. They will want you to backbone out the cost of removal from your price, though.

You have an incredibly valuable tree surrounded by your home and I as a wood worker suggest that you contact a few hardwood suppliers in your area to see if they would be interested surrounded by taking your tree down and they will them mill it into pieces that they can sell via there business.
Walnut wood is amazingly desirable and very expensive to buy. Go on ebay and type in walnut wood and you will be blown away at the cost of the wood for furniture or turning on a lathe.
I would I don`t know contact an arborist in the area and they might freshly give you a quote on what the price of the wood would be so you have the knowelde of what your tree is worth back some smuck comes along and try's to get over on you.

yeah i dont think so someone is pulling your leg for one its too big to be dug up and transplanted the roots run out too far it would die I had a friend who sold a huge black walnut tree for $3000

Answers: This tree sounds pretty big. If it is, there's a worthy chance you could get some currency for the wood.
It's a little bit complicated, though, because the only culture who will pay you for the wood are sawmills or millworkers. Those folks generally draw from their wood from loggers, who cut down trees in the woods and don't generally work on people's front lawns.
Most potential, because it's in a residential setting, you'd have to contact an arborist to seize the tree removed. Arborists don't generally have any brand of contact with sawmills, though, because in most places you enjoy to be a licensed logger to cut down logs if you're intending to sell them, and most of the residential trees arborists cut down aren't worth milling, so they don't bother getting licensed.
What I'd do, since your tree is most likely reasonably valuable, is call around to any sawmills or millworking places within your area and see if they're interested in your wood (they almost definitely will be if it's a big black walnut), how much they're willing to pay per board foot, what length they prefer for the logs (generally 12 or 16 feet), etc. You'll most likely find these people surrounded by the local yellow pages below Sawmills or Millwork.
Once you have a feel for what the sawmills want, you can start looking for an arborist contained by your area who is willing to remove the tree and go away the wood in sizes that you want. You may even be able to arrange to hold the arborist deliver the logs directly to the sawmill. These folks are generally in the book lower than Arborists, Tree Services, or Tree Work.
I know it sounds like a lot of hassle, and it is, but walnut wood is extraordinarily valuable, and as a result you'll mostly like find that it's worth your while to deal with this hassle.
