Ok. I just bought a big pumpkin and it's sitting on my front porch right very soon. I haven't carved it, and I'm not going to, it's there for beautification. My wife wants to paint it.

Answers:    It depends on how thaw it is outside. If it's cold, it will last longer. I have one that lasted longer than a couple months, but it be chilly enough. The steam and sun beating down on it will produce it shrivel in no time.

Just out on the porch, uncarved it will ultimate a very long time. Unless it freezes after it will rot quickly. Pumpkins used to be stored within cellars for winter vegetables and could smoothly last through the winter.
