How long does it rob for the roots of an apple pip to grow above ground? I planted an apple seed about 3 weeks ago or a moment...

I planted an apple seed about 3 weeks ago or a moment ago under, and it has be a varied summer so far in the UK, sometimes up to 28C other times maximum 21C but really summer doesn't start until the 29th June.
