Hi, I have some hosta seed that I need to plant surrounded by trays. How long before the seed will become a bush?? Will I see growth this year or only subsequent year ? What are the easiest hosta seeds to grow and diligence for? I am a beginner gardener so will lift any and all recommend.

Hostas can be sown any indoors or outdoors. If the seeds are fresh they can be direct sown outdoors as soon as they're ripe and will germinate near the next prolonged heat spell. If the seeds are stored for more than a month after self collected they can need stratification to germinate.

Stratification is the process of imitate nature, cold winter, and damp spring warm up. This will clutch time.

When hostas are germinated via Winter Sowing near will be some early germination within the flats...and then NOTHING.for a few weeks more. Evidently, some of the seed just bear more time to germinate because they need longer daylength and/or space heater nights. Anyway, newly when you've almost lost your patience and cogitate the seeds enjoy failed, you will own a flush of green from the late germinate hosta seeds.

I'm afraid I don't know anything in the order of how long it takes for hostas to germinate, but I can endow with you a few tidbits. 1) They like shade; consider putting the trays within full to partial shade. 2) Don't overwater. A apt soak every week should be adequate. Feed them near an all-purpose plant food (such as MiracleGro) when you're watering. I recently bought MiracleGro plant food for use beside watering cans, and adjectives the plants I feed beside MG have be doing super. If it does rain contained by between feedings, don't worry. Hostas are vastly hardy. I hope this helps. What variety of hostas are they? My favorite is the Loyalist. Oh, and you should see growth this year, but a minimal amount. Next year they'll take bad.
