For a potato grower explicitly the question! I've other chitted my seed potatoes, but recent research suggests it's not really worthwhile. Well I voice pah to the research, I'm going to carry on.

The purpose for chitting (getting the tubers to shoot before planting) is to produce quicker and heavier crops. The other reason I chit is because I other like to buy my nut tubers early - so I achieve the best choice - and if I plant in slowly March/April what do I do with them for two months? Rather than hold them sitting around in the shed waiting for planting sunshine I think it's better to hold them doing something!

Anyway, I've set my spuds a-chitting. I know I'm later than Guy Barter, but he does live contained by the softy South, and I'm further north in the East Midlands.
