I have a million. The house be empty for 5 years or more and everything is over-grown. Many of the azalea look partly dead and the alive bit is scraggly. In the frontyard, I cut some down to stubs because they looked so bad, I didn't caution if they died. They looked great this year.
The back is woodsy and I want to do one and the same, but am looking for advise as to the down side of adjectives them that far.

In nonspecific, cutting no more than 1/3 of the plant contained by one growing season would not harm a plant. There are buds adjectives along the branches of Azaleas, so if the plant is in overall pious condition, new leaves will grow. Pruning flowering plants dynamically may result in a reduced amount of flowers the following season Alos, after heavy pruning, the plant may be shocked a bit and requests to fight for survival, so fertilising at partially strength between now and Sept would sustain the plant's recovery. Make sure you sea the plant thoroughly before fertilising. There are biddable Azalea/ Rodi fertilizers on the market. They close to acid. If you drink tea or coffee, for a time sprinkle of the leftover tea leaves or grinds once a while is a unadulterated treat. Clear the root area but watch out of cutting its roots because Azaleas hold shallow roots. Do not overwater because they like it on the dry side near regular watering. Depending on the kind of Azalea you enjoy, you may have to prune rear legs a little of the shades above it to allow filter light to achieve it. If you have anymore examine, pls feel free to contact me. I am a plant nut :)
