My dad has an apricot and a plum tree. Both of the trees had fruit that be way over ripe that I got the pits from. I am wondering how to grow them and when to plant them. Where is the best place to plant them. Are in attendance any special fertilizers? What do I need to do? I have plenty experience beside plants, just none with growing trees from seed.
Answers:    Both the plum and the apricot need to be chilled for a month to get the pit stratified. Otherwise the core may never sprout. The number of chill hours depends on the variety of the trees and varies.

Wrapped the pits within moist paper towels and place the towel in a plastic shoulder bag and place that whole thing surrounded by the refrigerator. Plant the pit in the spring when soil is tillable.
tI'd recommend following the directions for the tree planting but to use a plan pot inside. They will grow but they may turn out to be seeds of the graft and not competent to grow on their own. I'd baby them inside before transferring them outside because they may be eat by that darn rabbit. Stick it in a pot and just maintain it moist. Might not grow till nest spring. Maybe it will need stratifying. Maybe not. But the winter weather will probably take attention of it (unless youre in zone 9 or hotter).
