I have a small courtyard that does not generate a lot of matter.

Answers:    Most of the previous answers had some correct information. I'd add: If your compost smells, you're doing anaerobic composing which is not moral and often occur if you don't turn your compost often satisfactory. Also don't compost meat or cheese products. They will smell and also attract varmints. No compost pile should be more then 4"x4'x4'. Composting should not be a smelly process. If it is, something is wrong. If you want more information, contact your County Extension Office or your local Master Gardeners. They will be glad to lend a hand.
