I heard you gather the dried top do you pick them as a full live flower a dry indoors or I was thinking a shoe box beside wax paper? Pick when inert not sure?
Answers: when the flower head dies it turns to nut, leave the bloom on until it dies next pick off the departed bloom and roll it between your fingers and the seeds will crash out...I have a planter box that I enjoy planted once with marigolds, I usually only pick off the inert blooms and put the seed right rear legs in the planter, this is the fourth year I've have marigolds from the first planting....very undemanding to grow from seed.
i'm not totally sure eather but i would believe you would have to pich them live cuz if you pick them limp the seads would have probably already fall out
