Answers: Extract rose petals? I guess you mean extract scent or essential oil from petals...The method that produces the most
exquisite oil is call enfleurage. A mild smelling oil is placed on a sheet of chalice. Rose petals are placed on the oil. They are changed as they wilt and replaced near new petals. Finally the redolent oil is removed from the chalice. This labor intensive process results in the most expensive rose grease in the world.
Generally flower oil are steam distilled or may be put into oil to soak. If put into grease, it mst be checked often andthe petals strained out and replaced as they can mold and ruin the delivery. Steam distillation can
diminish the scent if the temperature is too large, the process is continued too long, etc.
You can make a tisane or hose extract and use alcohol or glycerine to preserve it. It will not smell as good as the above methods.
You can kind rose water and extracts (or any other herb) at home. Take a voluminous pot, insert a clean brick or rock, permeate with rose petals or herb or whatever around the brick. Cover next to water and place a small cup dish on top of the brick. On top of the pot put a stainless bowl and crawl with rime. Simmer about three hours depending how various petals or herbs you own, replacing the ice as needed. The bowl near the ice will condense the steam and drip down into the chalice bowl. The water within the glass bowl is your rose hose down or whatever herb, on top will be a vein of oil. This is the essential grease. You can separate these and use the water within cooking and the essential oil contained by potpourri, lotions, soaps or whatever."
