i have a couple of nice poppy flower plants within my front yard. but most of the flowers own blown off within some high wind. i'm wondering if there's any trick to trimming off the comatose stalks. new flowers preserve coming up but i want to make sure i'm taking aid of the plant properly.
i'm a total garden 'tard (or gard-tard if you prefer) so this is all hot to me. thanks, cb
Answers: You can merely trim the spent flowers off toward the dais of the poppy, or you can always donate the flower stalks so that they will set seed and increase the amount of poppies you enjoy . The flower stalks can also add interest to the garden, and tons gardeners leave them for that purpose.
After the poppies hold finished blooming their leaves will yellow and die sour. You can trim them off as they start to die. You might want to try planting other perennials or annuals to cover the crack the poppies will leave.
