Answers: I nick it that the worm you refer to is wireworm (click beetle larvae) which can be cleared by using a sulphur based powder(can`t remember the name) Is this years patch close to where on earth you had a problem ultimate year? Spray with a Glyphosate base herbicide(roundup-clinic) now,as it will pilfer weeks to work at this time of year. When the vegetation starts to ashen, dig it within.(not heavy, woody stuff) and cover next to plastic to warm the ground. Do not lime for potatos, it cause scab! For an early crop, try Sharpes Express-should be in place about untimely July.
Not sure about the worm problem, but covering the ground beside dark plastic sheet will shoot off any unwanted foliage.I should procure it down soon before the modern growth starts.
