We have a pond at the rear our house and 2 geese families come onto our sward with their babies to put away our grass. We put geese repellent on the lawn, for $40, and it last about 2 weeks. (I'm not spending $80 a month on geese repellent). We enjoy long cat tails along the pond, not everywhere, so they come up where on earth its clear. Right now, we put grass chairs, a bench, and a toddler slide in the cleared areas, and for a few days immediately I haven't seen them on our pasture. I love the geese and their babies, I do not like the goose poop it leaves, and my husband is furious and comes out near his Indiana Jones whip to try and thrash one. Has anyone tried anything to keep geese stale their lawn and it works? I don't want to put anything on the grass, but I hear a fake fox works, or a swan? Or a single piece of string along the pond will maintain them from walking into our yard?
Answers: The problem is your pond. If you didn't own your pond then you would not hold the geese. One option you can do to maintain them out of your pond is to run some fishing line across the surface of your pond surrounded by a zig zag pattern. Tie the fishing strip on stakes around 6" to a foot above the surface of the water. This will deter them from coming into your pond. Another method is they build these water squirters that own sensors on them. When something comes in front of them it shoots hose down out and makes a hum to scare sour what is in front of it. You hook your dampen hose to it and stake it in the ground. If you look up on the internet for heron deterants you will find them. You may one and only have to use them for a few days to construct them leave. If they come rear then put it out again. Good luck.
