How do I propagate Redbud tree cuttings?

How do I propagate Redbud tree cuttings? I have Rooting hormone and Miracle grow potting soil. I took 2 cuttings, dipped them into the Hormone, and after planted then into the potting soil. And next watered them. Well nuttin'. They both died. Any ideas what I did wrong or what to do differently. thxD~

Softwood cuttings lower than mist in sand or perlite. Too much rooting hormone in reality decreases rooting value.
