Answers:    Alright, new answer... just did some research for you..

VFT's are NOT tropical. They are indiginous to swamps and bogs near sandy, low-nutrient type soils. This is why they have developed the trap, so the insects can act as the nutrients (crazy how evolution works, eh?)

Apparently, they don't NEED big humidity levels, but they are much, much better off when they hold high humidity. This means you should hang on to them elevated slightly over a pan of water (or if you own a mini greenhouse or something similar, use that). You should give it 2-4 hours of direct sunlight daily. If your plant is getting satisfactory sun, the inside of the traps will be a red color. Too little and they will be light green.

Use distilled water to dampen it. Don't use tap. There's too much saline in stroke and it will kill the plant. You can't overwater them, but don't let them sit surrounded by stagnant water cuz they'll die. Just try and keep the soil moist.

If you want it to survive a long time, contained by the summer, clip the flowers off (flowering consumes too much of the plant's energy) and in the winter put them outside (unless you live where on earth there are extreme winters, then put them within a plastic bag and put them in the refrigerator... don't forget to nurture them if you decide to do this, though).

When sitting out, you typically don't have to nurture them, but if you're so inclined, only feed them an insect going on for 1/3 the size of the trap.

GOOD LUCK!
