i live in ohio. would it survive the winter?
Yes it would survive the winter. What I did is plant a apricot seed surrounded by the ground and with in a year or two it started to sprout a tree from the core that I planted. Right now it's about 6 foot towering. And so beautiful in the spring, beside pink flowers. Good luck

I live in Michigan and our winters are much harsher than yours, you can't plant the pit from an appricot unless it grew on a tree in Ohio, The plant won't survive, you would hold to get a small tree from a nursery and plant it.
If you know a person who owns an apricot tree you can verbs up the plant as a it grows and transplant it...be sure to help it with a cover for its first winter, they get small ones made out of styrofoam that will work well using siran wrap to let the sun within.
good luck
Answers:    There are different varieties of Apricots. Apricot blossoms are sensitive to cold. Stark Bros. Nursery can back. Look on the Internet. They have developed varieties that can tolerate fruit as far north as Michigan.
