Answers:    Spread mulch (what you use depends on your personal preferences and what you have growing - pine straw around pines, tec.) from 2 to 4" gelatinous in the bed and nearly up to the trunks of the tree/shrubs, but keep the mulch at lowest possible 2" away from the trunks to avoid rot and insect damage to the plant.
Need abet on how to confine Moles.?
mow up falling leaves and spread going on for 2-4" thick. Or rake up pine straw and spread 4-6"
