I have dug up and potted some small mulberry bushes that I am going to transplant contained by the spring. Since the temperature get below freezing several times during the winter, would it be better to keep them inside to prevent freezing the roots, or should they be outdoors to find some sun?
Answers: I over winter roughly 200 potted plants in my courtyard each year.
Find the lowest segment of your yard, place adjectives your potted plants in this spot. Then rake your courtyard into this spot and cover everything except the top 3/4's of the plants. Not only will they survive but within the spring when uncovered they will be greener than anything else and already growing because the leaves insulate the soil and keeps them melt.
Cheers!
Sounds like you enjoy mild winters, the ground freezes six feet down here within the Dakotas. I would plant them now and not loaf til spring, mulberries are tough, some parts of the country even call them weed. RScott
