How do I hold the cats from digging, crushing and fertilizing my flower garden? I heard that moth ball work. I haven't tried it yet....

I heard that moth ball work. I haven't tried it yet. I put some antediluvian red onions out in the garden to see if the smell keep them away, but I haven't noticed a difference HELP!!
Answers:    There is a plant call coleus canina that cats are supposed to hate the smell of and I've read that planting Rue. lavender or pennyroyal also works. If you want to lure the cat away after plant some catnip (nepeta) away from the area because they love the smell of this and will with satisfaction roll amongst it.
If you are in the uk in that is or was a product call 'Cats Away'. Go to a local garden centre and see if they enjoy that or anything similar.
Its right about moth ball, also cayenne pepper sprinked around might work.Oh and most cats dislike water so spray them next to a hosepipe when you catch them on your flower bed. (unless its a cat close to mine who loves water, she sits outside when its raining!)
All I hold ever heard of is mothballs.
