It's about 5 ft all-embracing and about 30 ft long. Some weed are growing through the cracks in the concrete. I want to rid the weed and lay gravel over the whole nouns.

Advice please as I'm a beginner!!
First step is to get rid of the weed by applying a systemic herbicide spray. Once these have died, later lay a black water porous membrane over the in one piece area to prevent any further weed growth. Choose a dry daylight and arrange for the gravel delivery at a site close by. It is advisable to take help from a friend or neighbour, near a barrow to relocate the gravel to concrete area. Work from the furthest point from the gravel transport point and then using a rake spread as evenly as possible, until to finished the unbroken area.
Essentially it is inadvisable to lay gravel over a complex surface, unless it is a purpose designed material. (See Link)

Why want gravel when you have concrete which is even more low care?
Get rid of the weeds next to 'Pathclear' from your nearest hardware/garden shop. Once a year with to be precise much easier than continually raking gravel, some of which other ends up in the house.
If I have my 'druthers I would concrete all my garden, paint it green and drill holes to stick plastic flowers contained by.
Answers:    first of adjectives you will have to remove the concrete, this is a must, them a membrane will call for to be laid down on the cleared area, next lay the chips or gravel out about 2 inches glutinous, it will be hard work, so devout luck, i am a landscaper so drop me a line if you would close to a quote
