Thistle weeds are coming up contained by my yard and around my blueberry bushes. I want to bring back rid of them, especially around the blueberry bushes but I want to use something that won't harm us to drink the berries when the berries ripen (the berries are not full ripened yet). Any suggestions?

Pulling on some thick gloves and pulling them out works just about the best. Also cutting the plant rotten and drenching them with hose down works. But you still have to verbs out the dead plant and because it is dryed out and bad it will hurt more then when it is green and plyable. Just verbs them out when they are little. I need to maintain ahead of mine, but i have smaller amount then i have least year. YAY!

Cut it down just after the flowers start to overt. Pulling or cutting thistle at this point kill the plant and the root. Pulling it at any other time without digging up the root system will allow the thistle to spread via the roots.

Do not permit the flowers to get pollinated as that way they will form seed, even on a departed plant and than you will get more thistle.

I own used this technique for years and it works well for me. I simply wish my neighbors would control their thistle so I did not hold on to getting new populations on my cattle farm.

Answers:    this time of year its easy to put on the gloves and verbs them up its free, safe and you obtain exercise. Just got done doing it within my garden about 30 min ago. There are herbicides that vote they are safe on the sign , not only is this questionable thistles own long tap roots that are difficult to put to death. Oh and remember to pull straight up from the foot of the plant.
