I woke up this morning and found a hole in my patio, I know it wasn't my dogs because they have be inside all dark, but its little, maybe a 2in diamater, and resembling perfectly circle, I hear there be gopher's in the nouns I live in so I put 2 and 2 together and thought it might be a gohper hole, but how I can be sure? (other than sitting within and waiting for a gopher to pop out! lol) What can I do to get the gopher out of my patio? I am putting a patio down and want it gone! lol
Thanks!
Definitely not a gopher. They trade name holes more like 12x12. Probably a mole or chipmunk. Is it close to a tree or in the middle of the patio? Definitely not a gopher. I would think it is a chipmunk or ground squirrel. Same entry. They don't dig seriously of holes. Try this. Put on rubber gloves. Take Juicy Fruit gum and roll up a couple of sticks, long ways so they make nice little rolls. Toss them contained by the holes. Most furry little animals don't have the saliva to break down the gum and they any clog up their mouth or intestinal tract.

A 2 inch hole in the patio sounds more like a chipmunk to me. Do you own then within your area? Gopher holes are more approaching 3 inches in diameter.

Fill within the holes and build your patio. The critters will probably be discouraged, and but for, they are fun to watch!
Answers:    Gophers, chipmunks and ground squirrels are three different animals. Gophers and chipmunks product a hole about two inches within diameter and a ground squirrel's hole is twice that size, three to four inches. Traps, or poison bait are the surest ways to get rid of them.
If you don't want to eliminate it use a Hava-Hart type live trap.
