I have uprooted them, sprayed them with executioner stuff, and today I trimmed them down.
What are some ways that ACTUALLY work?
Answers: Is this a small ornamental pond or a large pond? We tried massacre them out of our large pond and haven't ever been competent to totally do it, since they reseed terrible and birds bring them in adjectives the time.
We got the best handle on them when we drained out the pond so we could increase it and bulldozed the cattails under. I doubt this is an option, but worked for a while for us.
...DOG TAILS !...seriously though...probably the singular thing that would permanantly eliminate them would also be unwholesome to the ecology of your pond as well as killing everthing else that you similar to...I'm guessing they are possibly pollinated by bird droppings or are like dandelions with pollination , perchance wind...a better bet would be to google cattails ..or learn to live beside them except for when you are compelled to remove them by hand...I used to hand verbs weeds from my yard so I wouldn't enjoy to use pesticide as I had fish in my wet garden and 4 dogs.I also lived in harmony next to the neighbor's cat , Mad Max the manx , 8 squirrels and a variety of birds, occasional rabbits , etc. etc..I DO ..however understand obsession and things that irritate..maybe you'll get lucky and someone on here WILL enjoy the answer to your question that is better than mine.I believe that they arer probably chunk of the natural flora for a pond ecosystem and by natural screening may be nearly impossible to eradicate without unnatural chemical means.. Justin can you be a bit more specific next to the question, I don't really understant it.
