How can i craft my soil more natural and "garden-able" short have to walk out and buy something?
Answers: Two basic things
Make a compost pile out of your garden and kitchen throw away. Add free manure from a local goat or horse or cattle or llama or chicken cattle farm.
grow cover crops such as annual rye, buckwheat, cow peas, vetch and cut that down with a mower or scythe, tolerate it rot a couple of weeks and till. this is called green manuring and is incredibly beneficial to the soil.
Be meticulous about using the neighbor's grass clippings. if they use a pasture service such as Chemlawn the grass will have herbicides and other things you do not want within your garden. In this day and age you really enjoy to ask before using such free resources so you don't bring to a close up killing your garden near the residues.
