i have a small twisted willow. its solely about 8 foot so far. how do you prune it? all i know is that if its done wrong, my latest shoots that appear will not grow twisted, but straight. is this true?
Answers: I would suggest that you leave it for a year or two. At 8ft it is just just finding it's foot and doesn't need the second stress of healing the wounds. I would provide it another two seasons and supply it a good nurture of blood,fish and bone, keep competition down and hold on to it well watered. You enjoy plenty of time in the adjectives to prune and shape it. It takes time to grow really stunning specimens - preserve patient :-)
You may prune to shape or coppice the willow,, and the time to prune your Willow is during the dormant interval over the winter months
