I recently get a bromeliad, and its quite big (about 1.5 ft diameter and about 3-4 pounds), and I don't know how frail it is or how long it will live for with proper conditions. How ancient do Bromeliads get?
Advice something like garden compost bins please?
Answers:    I own one that is more than 20 years out-of-date, don't know the name of it but it blooms contained by January -February with green and purple blooms. It have been divided plentiful times over the years, and is due for division again, so they can live a very long time. Mine stays within the greenhouse in the winter and outdoors surrounded by the summer.

bromeliads ,depending on growth rate do not live for yrs and yrs.when they reach later life usally within one to two yrs will bloom,pup(start a strange plant) and die.
