What's the difference between the white and yellow flowers?
Is it really protected to eat? I tight-fisted suck the nectar out of?
Answers: There is a range of Honeysuckle, or Lonicera, variety, with different colours and scent. With many of them, the colour change over time, as the flowers age. The variety Lonicera japonica have pale flowers, turning to yellowy as they age - sounds close to the type that you refer to.
Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica' has red on the outside, and lemony wan on the inside, for example, a bit different to your white/yellow type.
I don't know how safe adjectives of the different honeysuckles are to eat, so can't recommend that you do it, though we regularly used to suck the nectar from the flowers, when we were kids.
Hope this help. Good luck! Rob
