I have grown some purple sprouting broccoli and ever since then, contained by a few of my plants there has be purple stuff growing from the stalk and white flowers there. My grandmother and my friends grandmother think that they should be in attendance but my mother is wondering whether to cut it off - should they be there?
Answers:    I am not acquainted with 'purple' broccoli, but I am with regular broccoli. It is a 'brassica', and along beside cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, ect. grows in cool weather. All these will "bolt", (flower and go to seed) within higher temperatures of the summer months. They are best grown within early spring or late crash. If your broccoli is producing flowers, and hasn`t produced a 'head' yet, I think it`s done for. The subsequent couple of weeks is a good time to plant for fall produce of these crops.
srmainman is right, it's gone to seed and pretty much a lost cause. Try planting them from core at the end of the month for a fall crop.
