The pond itself is about 5' X 7', next to a filter, fountain, lights, a small waterfall and 4 small goldfish who are doing great. Unfortunately, at hand must be about a gazillion tadpoles clinging to the rocks, plant enthusiasm and the sides of the black plastic liner. Is there a chemical that will take rid of them that won't harm the goldfish? Or, is within some other way? Thanks for the give a hand.
I have the same problem second year and left them alone. The pond and the goldfish be fine. My goldfish survived the winter (Live in SC) and in a minute I have 5 goldfish and 3 nice green frogs living contained by my pond. I am hoping for a new crop of tadpoles this year.
why don't you of late let them be? I have a gazillion tadpoles too, but only terminated up with 3 frogs...
Try netting them out and putting them within a natural pond or other place. Numbers of frogs and toads are surrounded by decline, so if you can scoop the little boogers out next let them loose you might be helping the local frogs & toads. If you of late leave after then they customarily mature contained by a month or so, then you'll hold no more tadpoles.
If you can't or won't, then hand down them until your fish eat them. Goldfish will drink tadpoles, or you can scoop them and dump them somewhere else.
Answers: Your pond will be fine. The tadpoles will leave within a few days and life will be stern to normal. The toads thank you for providing them a hotel suite to spawn contained by. They will eat gazillions of mosquitoes to right to be heard thanks.
afford them to a school, or a pet store
