Yes I have. It worked ably, however you should consider using any good feature potting soil mix in your planters.
Use a river soluble fertilizer, such as miracle grow.
The major problem is contained by hot dry weather you may need to hose down daily or even 2 times a time. Containers dry out very promptly. Don't over plant the containers if you get to plentiful plants in 1 container your nouns rate will fall past its sell-by date quickly.
Tomato's, pepper etc do well, avoid full-size vining plants unless you can provide a trellis support for them
Good luck
Answers: I hold 18" raised bed. The soil is composed of 80% commercial potting mix purchased from a local nursery and 20% mineral sand. The commercial mix is 80% composted pine bark, 15% spaghnum moss and 5% sterile sand. The bed are amended with greensand, rock phosphate ,bone spread, blood meal, milorganite and composted chicken muck. I live in Florida and principally grow heirloom vegetables of all types. Heirloom miscellany vegetables seem to do better surrounded by rich organic soils than they do near chem fert. Judge your soil by your earth worm count. The greater the count ,the richer the soil.
