I Started a Potted cherry tomato plant about 3 months ago and it grew just fine lots of foliage and blossoms and even 3 fruits afterwards about 2 weeks ago the leaves starting from the bottom of the plant started to turn yellow afterwards brown and die this discoloring began at the base of the palm leaf and worked towards the tip until it was dead. Any suggestions on the inflict is it not enough or too much water or fertilizer? or is it some giving of fungus or disease? This plant is inside a lanai where it gets morning sun single...Please help lol
Answers: Sounds like the leaves are getting damp in the sunshine. This will burn them. My plants looked terrible after they get rained on after they had be in the direct afternoon sun but they recover. I live within Brooksville Florida and have 24 Tomato plants. I water at 7:30 contained by the morning to avoid this. Also Miracle grow is the best stuff for tomato's I have found. Also I use peat moss in the potting mix (every one of my plants is within a 8 gallon pot) peat has the perfect pH for the plants. The leaves will not get better but you will get new growth. I hose down thoroughly every other day. Best of luck to you and if you have any more problems purely email me. Of course it might just need fertilizer. Miracle grow for tomato's is the best stuff I enjoy found. Just follow the directions on the box. I use the sprayer.
Also if you want your plants to do well they should get at tiniest 6 houres of direct sunlight a day.
I'm in Oregon and when that happen to our tomatoes it is usually a Cucumber Beetle that is the culpert. Look for a bug that looks like a female bug but is yellow with black spots or stripes. Google it and you will find lots of info. Tomatoes do better if they have afternoon sun also. Can't help you on if your are over fertilizing. As for watering, sometimes it is best to permit plant get a little droopy and afterwards water deeply so you know you aren't overwatering. apposite luck on your problem.
