i have my intact lawn covered in roughly speaking.. 9 year old marathon sod, i hatred it, needs too much water to be green, make my legs itch when i sit in it, and its pretty coarse

what kind of grass should i kernel next?? im planning to take it adjectives out and till the soil and replace the whole network of sprinklers.

btw this within southern ca (hot summers, warmer winters)
Answers:    You need a thaw out season grass. Some of your options are Zoysia, Bermuda and St Augustine. St. Augustine is Susceptible to a viral disease known as SAD or St Augustine Decline. Not much is particular about it except it is a virus and there isn't anything that can be done once you achieve it. Bermuda is nice however it requires extra applications of fertilizer than Zoysia does.

I'd stay away from St Augustine because of the situation described above. If you're up for extra work and want a beautiful yard plant bermuda otherwise walk with Zoysia.
I think you would be best served by contacting a local nursery or growing and asking them. They would know the best
grass to grow contained by your area that would stand up to your
climate and also what would suit your needs.
