One of the best gardening websites (I think) is the Yahoo Plantswap group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PlantSwap/
Since the right time to plant and harvest your vegetables probably depends on what nouns of the country you live in (zone, climate, etc), you would want the opinion of others who live in zone similar to yours to give you that humane of advice on that.
In the Yahoo Plantswap group, here is a Database of people who garden and live surrounded by various sturdiness zones, and you can do a query to find them, or ask them a question approaching yours when you post in the group.
It is call a plantswap group because most people within the group like to swap seed, cuttings and plants as a more economical alternative to buying these things at the nursery.
The great thing, though, is that nearby are lots and lots of members who will distribute stuff for free to you if you just reward the postage or send a SASE. That group have so many friendly, charitable and sharing gardeners who are very devoted. So you don't really have to own anything to swap or trade to join, as they are ready to help you draw from started. There are also many member in the group who are Master Gardeners, and massively knowledgeable, and they are impressively helpful within sharing their advice if you simply ask. You might want to check it out. It's a Yahoo group, so it's free and anyone can join. Click on the intertwine below if you want to learn more more or less this group.
Answers: Hey La Mexicana,
You got some correct answers already. Many of the nurseries (that advertise on the internet) hold this information and can sell you the plants too. There have not been a plant within my yard that I cannot find on the internet only by typing in the adjectives name, or the botanic term.
The climate will depend on the location in Europe, but yes the copious climate differences in America are experienced adjectives over Europe. Mountains, winters, fall, freezing, not freezing etc. Here are some climate sites for Europe, and the second should include a growing zone for both America and Europe.
Happy Gardening
You can simply type the name of a flower or vegetable into any upright search engine ( I use google) and you will be surprised what information shows up
