I enjoy some ferns and some Hostas,
but would love to find something TALL,
like shrubbery that will look pretty
up against the house -
which is four foot plus off the ground
(with black-backed trellis paneled
walls going from the house to the ground.)

Answers:    What around hydrangeas? They are anywhere from 3-6 feet high, depending on the variety and do capably in shade. However, if you wanting evergreens, they wouldn't work.
