without chemicals or all that crap, how do I attain rid of flies in my backyard & off my dog? As trouble-free and cost-free as possible.

we hold this electric fly swapper :)
we've killed about 14 flies next to it in our backyard. we haven't seen any flies for a long time surrounded by our yard, usually you can get electric fly swappers within electronic stores. they will probably be about $10 dollars. and they're fun to play with :) Go to the dollar store and buy some "Fly Stickers"
They receive rid of lots of flies, they are not expensive, but they do not look very nice.
Answers: leave rancid meat around, it will send them packing
