how do i dry roses without them closing up? i usually simply hang them upside down but whenever i do that, they shutting down up closing a little any warning?
Answers: Have you tried using "silica" sold in the crafts stores?
Other drying agents include sand, cornmeal and borax. Using this method is said to preserve the blossom more true to its inspired color and shape.

Cut off most of the stem, going away about an inch of stem. Place an inch or so of silica surrounded by the bottom of an airtight container. Place the blossom upright and atop the silica cloak. Gently separate the petals, positioning them to a desired final shape, and sprinkle additional silica around and surrounded by between each petal. Cover beside a final layer of 1-2" of silica. Seal the container for 3 to 5 days, depending on the size of the bloom. Check the bloom periodically, & don't forget to restore your health it with the silica after respectively check.

Don't leave it contained by the silica too long or they can turn brownish. Roses takes just about 7-10 days to dry.
