Drooping Roses -- Prop Ideas? My rose bush is flourishing, so much so that the flowers are...
My rose bush is flourishing, so much so that the flowers are becoming too heavy for the branches. Now it looks like I own a rose groundcover out there, or a "rose bomb," with the branches pretty much lying on the ground beside large, healthy flowers at the ends.
Answers: What I did beside mine was to get those green garden rods and do variation of "teepees" or simple tying to one rod to prop the roses up. The green rods help camoflauge the fact that you're using such props.
Some roses own weak stems when they are young, but they grow out of it. What you could do in a minute is cut bouquets to bring in the house and lessen the weight on respectively stem. Another option is to place a trellis next to it and tie the longer stems onto the trellis. Trellises don't adjectives have to be next to a wall to look nice! It really depends on what category of rose you have--some just are gangly roses, or you might have a climber that have to be supported, or this one just might need to be pruned more so the cane don't get so long. Some really just hold an arching, drooping habit, and the best way to soak up the blooms is to cut them and admire them in a pitcher.
