We have huge plants, in a small garden space. My tomatoes are showing signs of wilt, but perk up after rainfall. I noticed my cucumbers and some of my yellow squash and zucchini are not growing after they form and inaugurate to rot. Can I save my plants? My herbs surrounded by the same small bed are doing great. What can I do to prevent this from returning next year. (already know something like purchasing resistant tomatoe plants, but what else??)
Answers: Your tomatoes could have blight or wiIt. I would buy Dragoon dust with copper and sprinkle by bunch directions. My tomatoes has had leaves dyeing on the bottom of plants this year, and the tomatoes hold been smaller then usual, but the fruit is tempting.
Tomato plants need about 1.5 - 2 foot of space radious between them. They need plenty of room to grow. The package of seed for each plant that you have will own directions on how far apart they need to be, and how to obtain flawless fruit, etc. Cucumbers need about 3.5-4 foot between each plant. The soil and the fertilizer you use makes a big difference as capably. A good soil, fertilizer, and spacing will make or break how your plants grow, and maintenence as okay. They only need roughly speaking 1 - 1.5 inches of water a week as well, depending on how much rainfall you get as well. Herbs are a total different world on spacing. They can grow close together and survive in good health. Most vegetables, especially tomatoes and cucumbers need plenty of space between. As far as the bottom wilting and the top doing well, and if you are harvest the vegetables, they will be fine as long as they ripen as they should, etc. Your zucchini and squash are probably not being pollinating. What looks like a tot squash is part of the female flower and not really a squash until it have been pollinated. When pollination does not occur...the "babe-in-arms squash" rots. Try hand pollinating.
If your tomatoes perk up after a rain..that mode they wanted water. Water them regularly.
