I am currently in the process of first performance a produce company in Kankakee illinois and inevitability more information on which vegetables would grow best in a short growing season. In days gone by I had great nouns with tomatoes, cucumbers and pole beens. Are within any others that I should consider adding to my Victory garden? Chef near a green thumb
Answers:    Corn, lettuce, swiss chard, peas, broccoli, asparagus, strawberries, tree fruits, eggplants, summer squash, winter squash, zuccini, basil & other herbs (Thyme, cilantro, parsley, savory, margoram, oregano, mint, dill, fennel, etc etc), pepper, carrots, Rhubarb, potatoes, soybeans, shallots...

...pretty much anything you can dream up of that's not a tropical fruit can be grown in your nouns. Even peanuts and sweet potatoes (which need a long growing season), if you plan ahead somewhat and do a few extra things to make them 'work" up here.
I used to live within Homewood, IL. We planted almost everything. We had tomatos, corn, onions, green beans, carrot, strawberries, grapes, beets and all sorts of melons.
