Do you know what Jocotes are??
Answers: Jocote (Spondias purpurea) is a species of flowering plant in the familial Anacardiaceae, native to tropical regions of the Americas. Other adjectives names include Red Mombin, Purple Mombin, Ciruela, or Hog Plum. The term "jocote" derives from the Nahuatl word xocotl ("fruit").
It is a small to medium-sized tree up to 25 m tall. The leaves are deciduous within the short dry season, but only trickle shortly before the investigational leaves develop; they are pinnate, with 7-23 leaflets, respectively leaflet 3-5 cm long and 1.5-2 cm broad. The flowers are small, reddish-purple, produced within large panicles. The fruit is an palatable oval drupe, 3-5 cm long and 2-3.5 cm broad, ripening red (occasionally yellow) and containing a single large pip.
Known in English as Red Mombin and Hog Plum, jocotes are tree fruits, produced by Spondias purpurea of the Cashew Family, which is original to tropical America. Often jocotes are eaten lightly cooked but Mexicans also like to pulp them in hose, add sugar, and drink the wet like Kool-Aid. They are 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) long. Jocotes are usually glowing, but can come close to being ashen.
