I wish I could work surrounded by my bare foot, it would feel so flawless. Now I just be in motion on the lawn and consequently back within for outside shoes if I want to go somewhere else on my property. :(
Yes, other. Including mowing the lawn, but I must put in that I have a instruction manual reel-type push mower, that you can't possibly pull vertebrae over the feet when it's turning. I don't really similar to power tools at all, apart from risk of injury I regard as they're bad for the environment and I abominate the noise they engineer, they can be heard through the entire block. I enjoy no weed whacker, edger or any such things.

I enjoy gardening because I approaching to feel the plants and the soil. I gain frequent minor scrapes on my hand, where the skin is much thinner, but I don't wear gloves any. And I can't remember when I last have even the slightest scrape on my foot from gardening, I've done things like clear bramble bushes barefoot lacking trouble. Feet that are habitually bare are relatively tough!

As for hookworm, even in the South these haven't be a serious problem since modern plumbing has replaced the outhouses. See source.
Answers:    When it gets melt enough outside I close to to garden barefoot. I don't use power tools barefoot though. Too dangerous.
Yes. I live surrounded by the south, and go barefoot abundantly during the summer. I've never had hookworms any! LOL! I love the feel of the top soil and lush grass under my foot. I tend my flowers and my veggie garden barefoot. The one thing I will not do barefoot is use a shovel, hoe, a push-type lawnmower, or string trimmer.
