Answers:    Hi:
The Cycad is considered a tropical plant and does well within zones nine through eleven. I live within zone seven and even though we can maintain some tropical and sub - tropical plants, the Cycad wouldn't do very well in zone seven outdoors surrounded by the winter time. If it is brought into shelter with the right amount of sunlight, it might be possible but I haven't see a Cycad in zone seven. The Sago, Windmill and Palmetto Palm can survive contained by this climate and I also have a Pomegranite tree that is deciduous during the winter but bear fruit in the summer.

Hope this help some and good luck to you. If you necessitate any other help, please touch free to contact me at my website. I will link you to the tropics slice of the website. Browse through and you may find some useful information on tropical plant specimens. I will also connection you to the gallery of plants section as near are a variety of different plant specimens that would do okay in zone seven. Have a great sunshine!

The Sago Palm is the hardiest of the Cycads....it does best in zone 9 or complex but can survive and do well surrounded by zone 8 depending on the exact locations. As far as zone 7 goes...it could be planted outside but would have need of some protection...this also depends on whether or not you're in a northern zone 7 location (ex...Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey) or a southern zone 7 location (Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee)

Hope this help
